As reported by The Sun, Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid are keen to bolster their options between the goal-posts as they look to bring in Tottenham Hotspur ace Hugo Lloris. A £60m move for the French World Cup winning captain is being sanctioned as they bid to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Blancos’ current first-choice keeper Keylor Navas is in doubt as to where his immediate future lies and Real do not intend to waste time in finding a replacement should Navas depart from the club. Lloris has 4 years left on his current contract with Spurs so Madrid will have to spend big money to lure the shot-stopper away from White Hart Lane. Sources close to Lloris believe the keeper is open to the idea of playing in Spain. However, he does not intend to force his agenda on the Tottenham board and force a move away from the club.
Lloris brings stability to the goal and commands his defensive line with great success. He is a reliable figure for Mauricio Pochettino to place his trust in and can be world-class on his day. He acts as a wall in between the sticks and is never easy to beat, as opposition players come in search of a goal. Even at 31 years of age, Lloris is irreplaceable for Spurs at the moment. Tottenham must do their best to hold onto the French captain if they are to contend for silverware come the end of the season.
Lloris had signed for Tottenham from Olympique Lyon in 2012 and has gone on to make 254 appearances for the London based club. He produced magnificent performances at the Bernabeu and Wembley during last season’s Champions League group stage clash as Spurs and Madrid locked horns. The English club went on to finish as the group winners, while the Spanish giants settled for the second spot.
If Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is to negotiate the transfer of the club’s prized asset, it is believed that he would expect nothing less than £67m, the same figure which saw Alisson Becker’s switch to Liverpool from AS Roma, labelling the Brazilian keeper as the most expensive shot-stopper currently plying his trade in the modern game.
Real have been keen admirers of Manchester United and Chelsea keepers David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois, respectively. However, attempts to bring them to the Spanish capital have failed to materialize so far which has left the defending European champions in a fix.

Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy must work together in the best interest of both the club and the players as Tottenham seek to build a squad capable of consistently challenging for silverware in the coming years. Letting the club captain leave at this crucial point of time might leave a bad impression on the team and so Pochettino must do everything in his power to make Lloris stay put at White Hart Lane.
