Stoke City are lining up a move for Southampton striker Sam Gallagher this summer. According to recent reports, the Potters are planning to make a swoop of the English forward during this summer transfer period. It is believed that Stoke boss Gary Rowett is reportedly preparing a £7m bid for the English ace as he looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season.
Some sources are now claiming that the South-coast club are ready to part ways with Gallagher so that they can fund a move for Liverpool forward Danny Ings this summer. The Saints centre-forward went out on loan at Birmingham City last season and scored 7 goals at the St. Andrews which has not gone unnoticed by the Potters. It has been suggested that Rowett is ready to table an official bid in pursuit of the English frontman’s signature.
He is exactly the kind of talent who can thrive under the guidance of Rowett if given the opportunity to ply his trade at the bet365 Stadium in the upcoming season. The striker is vastly experienced in English football after previously spending time on loan at MK Dons and Blackburn Rovers.
However, he has fallen down the pecking order at the St. Mary’s Stadium so a potential move away from the Saints could be his only option to ensure regular first-team opportunities next term.
The Staffordshire outfit had a disastrous campaign last term when they were relegated from the English top-flight. Rowett now has the job to rebuild his squad this summer so that his side has a good chance to claim a promotion back to the top tier.
The addition of Gallagher will undoubtedly bolster Rowett’s attacking options ahead of the new season. Stoke City have the likes of Peter Crouch, Bojan Krkić, Benik Afobe, Mame Biram Diouf and Saido Berahino vying for a place in their starting XI. The potential acquisition of Gallagher will definitely improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Potters squad.

At 22, the English prospect still has his best years ahead of him which Stoke could look to benefit from, in the next few seasons. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Gallagher and whether he ends up making a switch to the bet365 Stadium before the start of the new season.
