According to the latest reports, Everton are close to securing a move for Watford‘s versatile forward Richarlison. Latest reports suggest that the player is having a medical at the club and an official announcement will be made soon. Marco Silva seems keen on reuniting with his former player and if reports are to be believed, then they are paying the Hornets £50m to acquire his services.
The transfer fee certainly feels high for someone who managed just 5 goals last season but this can also include a sort of compensation from the Toffees for making an unwarranted approach for Marco Silva earlier last season. The Hornets were left miffed at how Everton went after their manager after they sacked Ronald Koeman, and there was some legal hassle regarding this issue between the clubs.
The Brazilian showed promise in the early part of the season and had a high flying start to the Premier League. The 21-year-old is traditionally a left winger but can play in various positions upfront including that of a striker. He was a regular feature for his side in the last campaign as he made 41 appearances in all competitions.
Watford had signed him from Fluminense for £11.5m and they will certainly be happy with the deal they are currently getting. The Merseyside club will be looking to challenge the big boys of the Premier League and will be hoping to play an attractive brand of football under the Portuguese manager.
The Toffees finished 8th last term and decided to part ways with Sam Allardyce who did a decent job in taking them from the bottom half of the table to the top half.
One often finds that players from other leagues struggle to get going in the Premier League straight away but that wasn’t the case with Richarlison. Like all Brazilian, he has a flair to his game and has decent dribbling skills. He is not afraid to take on defenders and his direct nature of play makes him a good asset to have in the attacking third of the pitch.

His versatility will also be a big asset but still, there are some areas of the game which he needs to improve upon. Maybe one year experience of Premier League and reuniting with his former manager might bring out the best in him. Everton are definitely overpaying by spending £50m on him but the club and manager don’t seem to mind paying such an amount for a 21-year-old.
