Rangers have to up their offer if they are to stand a chance of landing Heart of Midlothian striker Kyle Lafferty this summer. According to the Express, the Gers had tabled a £200,000 bid which was rejected by Hearts and it is believed that they need to offer treble that fee if they are to secure the services of the Northern Ireland international during this summer transfer period.
The 30-year-old has a wealth of experience in English and Scottish football which is why he could turn out to be a clever addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad at the Ibrox Stadium. He has put in a number of outstanding performance since his switch to Hearts last summer.
Lafferty had featured in 41 matches for the Scottish outfit last season, scoring 19 goals while grabbing two assists in all competitions. His experience in the dressing room would be key if the Gers are aiming to win some silverware this season so Gerrard should do everything in his power to land him in the coming weeks before the transfer window slams shut next month.
The Enniskillen-born frontman is exactly the kind of talent who can flourish under the guidance of Gerrard if given the opportunity to showcase his abilities at the Ibrox Stadium in the upcoming season.
The Teddy Bears had an average season last term but is looking to take a step in the right direction with Gerrard at the helm. The English manager has managed to guide his team to three victories on the spin and also has three clean sheets to show for their efforts.
The potential acquisition of Lafferty will undoubtedly improve Gerrard’s attacking options at the Ibrox Stadium. Rangers have some talented frontmen such as Alfredo Morelos, Jamie Murphy and Umar Sadiq competing for a place up top in Gerrard’s starting XI. The addition of Lafferty will definitely bolster their attack significantly and add more competition for places within the Gers squad.
