Latest reports suggest that Wes Foderingham is ready to leave Rangers FC this very summer following the arrival of Allan McGregor on a free transfer. The latter paid his dues in the Hull City rank and finally made his prodigious return to his boyhood club. It is unlikely that Foderingham will get precedence over McGregor which immediately begs into question his overall value to Steven Gerrard.
The Gers boss has already made seven signings since taking over from Graeme Murty at the Ibrox and he seems to be on the lookout for more. Since the English manager already has an able figure in McGregor, cashing in on Foderingham is the best way to raise more funds to bolster the outfield ranks.
The 27-year-old’s contract is set to run for another two seasons and his value is at the highest point after some of his performances last season. The Englishman was the primary choice for Murty and made 37 appearances for the Light Blues across all competitions, registering 11 clean sheets.
He signed with the Glasgow-based outfit in the summer of 2015 and has racked up 130 appearances and 49 clean sheets for his side so far. Foderingham signed with the Fulham youth academy when he was young but was released and signed by Crystal Palace in 2010.
He made loan appearances for Bromley, Boreham Wood, Histon and Swindon Town before making his move to County Ground permanent in 2012. The Hammersmith-born player recorded close to 200 appearances for Swindon, which earned him a spot in Mark Warburton’s squad.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch tall, Foderingham is not the tallest of figures in between the sticks but he certainly has been reliable. Unfortunately, the regime change at the Ibrox has severely hurt his future with the club and it might just be the right time to move on.
McGregor is a tested veteran who is a massive figure at the Scottish club, having already registered around 250 appearances for the Gers’ senior squad. He has been capped 35 times at international level and even spent a season with the Turkish side, Besiktas.
The veteran shot-stopper has travelled everywhere and played in some of the most prestigious leagues in European football. He had previously helped the Gers progress to the quarterfinals of the 2008 UEFA Super Cup after beating out SV Werder Bremen in the 4th round.

It would be fair to assume that neither Foderingham nor McGregor is ready to sacrifice their starting role at this point of their careers. Selling the former for the highest bid is the best move forward for both the player and the Gers boss.
