Steven Gerrard has certainly been a busy man this summer, having landed his first job as a manager, in Glasgow. The former Liverpool midfielder will hope to run local rivals Celtic close in the race to the league title and has made several additions to his team from the previous season.
However Rangers continue to be linked with some exciting stars, a few of whom could join them before the start of the next season and one such player they are interested in is Liverpool striker Danny Ings.
The English international, who announced himself with a 21 goal season at Turf Moor in the Championship, earned a move to Anfield in 2015 to play under Brendan Rodgers. He made a decent impact at the start but picked up the first of two devastating injuries, that kept him out of action until last season.
Jurgen Klopp, the current manager at Liverpool, decided not to send him on loan at the start of the season and gave him some chances off the bench. He made three league starts, scored a goal against West Brom and also registered an assist in the Champions League, but did not show enough promise, to be the first choice backup for Roberto Firmino in the starting XI.
The 25-year old is a natural finisher, with energy that rarely dies out. He is relentless with his pressing, and is a real poacher, looking for opportunities in every second of the game. He never stops running, is a nightmare for centre-backs and is a player that can improve most teams in the country.
He may be a decent fit in Klopp’s system but reports suggest that Klopp is happy to let him leave in search of regular playing time. He has just two years left in his current deal at Anfield, and will not be too expensive, so is he a player Gerrard should sign?
The new boss at Ibrox has already signed Ovie Ejaria and Jon Flanagan from the Reds. He will find it easy to negotiate and bring him to Glasgow, but his addition makes very little sense for the side.
Gerrard has recently signed Umar Sadiq, an emerging Nigerian striker. He already has Alfredo Morelos, who was pretty decent last season while Eduardo Herrera seems happy to fight for his place in the first team.

So Ings will not be a regular in the first team at Rangers either and his addition only adds depth to their squad. Gerrard should rather look strengthen some other areas of his squad as Ings, at this time, is not exactly an urgent requirement at Ibrox.
