Steven Gerrard has been a busy man since landing his first job as a manager in Glasgow. The former Liverpool star is looking to improve the squad that showed no progress last season, as he looks to compete for the league title next season.
He has already added up to six new faces to his squad from the previous season this summer but is still desperate to improve a few areas of his squad. One such player they continue to be linked with is John McGinn.
Born and brought up in Glasgow, the 23-year old came through the ranks at St Mirren spending three seasons in the senior side, before joining Hibernian in 2015. He made an immediate impact at the club, making 35 league appearances in his first campaign. He took his game a step up last season, registering six goals and eight assists in 43 games in all competitions.
He has cemented his place in the first team for the Hibs and already has nine appearances for the Scotland national side. McGinn is highly regarded as a star for the future in the country.
A central midfielder by trait, McGinn can put in shifts in a defensive or a more attacking role and has also been used as a wing-back to decent effect. He is known for his ability to wriggle away from tight spots as his close control and vision help him set up his teammates in the attack.
He is strong in hold up play, is ready to do the dirty work and is adept at adding numbers to the backline when needed. However, he is equally effective at the other end, where his technical prowess with the ball at his feet, allow him to keep the pressure on the opponents.
McGinn has certainly shown that he is ready to take the next step in his career and it does not come as a surprise that the likes of Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest are interested in his services. However, Brendan Rodgers is determined to land McGinn and has already made a £1.5m bid, to try and land him this summer.
He has just a year left on his contract but it is understood that the Hibs value him at £5m, leaving room for Rangers to make a move. Gerrard seems to be happy working with potential stars next season. Most of his summer recruitments have been youngsters who are ready to make a mark and McGinn fits the bill well.

He will not be a regular in the first team at Celtic Park so if Gerrard can offer him regular game time, they may well be able to snap him up this summer.
