Rangers are weighing up a move for Bolton Wanderers defender Mark Beevers this summer. According to recent reports, the Gers are planning to seal a switch for the English centre-back during this summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign
It is believed that the Gers sent a scout down south to monitor the progress of the English talent and catch him in action for the Greater Manchester club last weekend as they faced off versus Girona which ended in a goalless draw. Some sources are now claiming that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is prepared to make a move for the defender, who has less than a year remaining on his current deal with the Wanderers.
It has also been suggested that Phil Parkinson’s side are aware of the interest surrounding Beevers with the Ibrox Stadium being touted as a likely destination for the English defensive ace before the start of the new season.
Here is a detailed scout report of the 28-year-old Rangers target:
Player Profile:

Brief History:
Beevers is a Sheffield Wednesday youth product and has had loan spells at MK Dons and Millwall before sealing a permanent move to the Den at the start of 2013. The English defender went on to feature in 150 matches for the Lions and has 9 goals and 3 assists to his name in all competitions. He was released by Millwall in the summer of 2016 and Bolton Wanderers snapped him up on a free transfer.
Beevers had put in a number of solid displays for the Wanderers during the course of last season and was one of Bolton’s standout performers which has caught the attention of Rangers chiefs.
Player Strengths:
The 28-year-old has an incredible strength which helps him win a lot of aerial duels for his team. He is a commanding presence on both boxes and is a ‘no-nonsense’ type of defender. He can head the ball well and is a threat from set-pieces.
Player Weaknesses:
Beevers lacks pace and does not have the composure to carry the ball out from the defence. His concentration levels also drop during games which makes him a liability at times.

It goes without saying that Rangers are in dire need of a quality defender after their abysmal record in the last term and the Championship ace can be a good acquisition for them. However, only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Beevers and whether he ends up making a switch to the Ibrox Stadium this summer.
