Newcastle United are reportedly looking to ship Rolando Aarons out on loan for another season over doubts of his first-team involvement. Rafael Benitez is due to receive Kenedy in the coming weeks after signing a loan agreement with Chelsea for the Brazilian winger. United also have Jacob Murphy, Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie in the squad, all fighting it out for a position in the upcoming season’s starting XI.
Aarons, who has been recovering from an injury since his brief loan spell with Hellas Verona might not register much playing time next season. The 22-year-old made 11 appearances in the Serie A but could not register a single goal or an assist. He spent the earlier half of the campaign appearing sporadically for the Magpies first team and made just 3 appearances for the U23 squad in the Premier League 2.
Speaking to the press over Aaron’s future, Benitez said, “With Kenedy coming back, we have to be honest it won’t be easy. He knows that we are working on his fitness. We’ll see what happens with other players. You never know because the training sessions and games in pre-season you could get injuries. So others have to be ready and be fit. If everybody is fit (by deadline day), we check the numbers and some may have to go. If not they have to be as well as possible.”
Aarons is a speedy presence with all the right traits of making it into the Newcastle senior team in the future. However, he still needs to develop further and also has to prove himself to the gaffer.
The 22-year-old mostly operates from the left wing to deliver appetizing balls into the opposition penalty area. He can appear from the other flank as well, having racked up just 27 appearances for Newcastle since making his debut against Manchester City in August 2015.
He is of Jamaican descent but grew up in the neighborhoods of Bristol. He was released by Bristol City in 2012 and the Magpies signed him to their academy. Aarons progressed well through the youth ranks, scoring 6 goals in 28 appearances so far for the U23s and also receiving 5 caps for the England U20 side.

Now reports are also claiming that West Brom have expressed their interest towards the flank specialist. A loan out to the EFL Championship might do wonders to Aarons’ professional career, giving him a chance to really showcase his prolific footballing abilities.
