Manchester United have decided that they won’t allow their forward Anthony Martial to join Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur amidst speculation linking him with a move away from Old Trafford this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are not willing to sell their French striker to any other English side during this summer transfer period, even if they make an offer in excess of £70m for the services of Martial.
It is believed that United will allow the French prospect to leave the club this summer but only on their terms, for the right team and the right price. Some sources are now claiming that United boss Jose Mourinho won’t sell Martial to any of their English top-flight rivals even if they offer more than £70m for the forward.
It has also been suggested that the French ace is keen to make a move away from Manchester in search of regular first-team opportunities after receiving limited game time under Mourinho last season. Martial had featured in 45 matches for the Reds of Manchester last term, scoring 11 goals while notching up with 9 assists across all competitions.
In a recent interview, the player’s agent made it clear that the forward wanted to leave the club so Mourinho should look to move him on rather than keep an unhappy player who could potentially disrupt his squad’s morale. Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley was quoted to have said, “After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.
“There are lots of factors, and right now it’s too early to talk about them.
“Manchester United want Anthony to extend his deal and do not want him to leave but we have not reached an agreement for several months.”
United were the runners-up of the English top tier but had an underwhelming season last term as they couldn’t bag any major silverware which will be a cause for concern for their loyal supporters. Hence, the Special One should look to add more quality before the end of this summer transfer window if his players are to rise up to the challenge of competing for top honours in the upcoming campaign.
Retaining some of their most promising players like Martial could help Mourinho’s team go head to head with the likes of Manchester City and mount a realistic title challenge in the Premier League. However, keeping a reportedly unhappy player could harm United’s chances of having a fruitful campaign next term.

Hence, they need to bring in a like for like replacement who will be capable of filling the Frenchman’s shoes at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Martial and whether he ends up making a switch away from the Mancunian outfit before the start of the new season.
