Manchester United will be looking to bolster their squad for the upcoming season and they have been in the market to sign a midfield enforcer. They have been linked with quite a few of them but no deals have materialised as of now. One such player, they are in the race to sign is Bayern Munich‘s midfield ace, Arturo Vidal.
Jose Mourinho has often been blamed for not being able to bring the best out of Paul Pogba and that could be one of the reasons why he is after some midfielders which can give Pogba that freedom to showcase his talent. They have already signed Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk who is likely to play a crucial role in the upcoming season.
Bayern Munich’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently gave an indication that Vidal could not be part of the plans of the team in the upcoming season. Regarding his future, he was quoted as saying,”It is up to him to decide his own future.”
The 31-year-old is entering in the final year of his contract and their new manager Niko Kovac will be looking to get rid of some old players. This can bode well for United as they can get Vidal in the current transfer market.
Manchester United have been linked with Mateo Kovacic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Both of them are young options but Mourinho is in desperate need of results as he cannot afford to go another season trophyless. Maybe that might be the reason why they can go after the more experienced and proven Vidal over other options.
The Chilean is a perfect example of a box to box midfielder and his energy and abilities are second to none. At his peak, he was the best in his role in the business and even at 31, he can be a decent bet for Jose Mourinho as he looks to stop Manchester City‘s juggernaut in the upcoming season.

Vidal has all the components which Mourinho requires from a midfielder as he is tough tackling, strong and full of energy. When on the ball, he is calm and composed which allows him to pick out a good pass more often than not. However, the move can backfire as the player is looking far from his best and United fans should remember how Bastian Schweinsteiger struggled to cope up with the challenges of the Premier League in the latter stages of his career.
