Manchester United are interested in securing the services of Celtic defender Kieran Tierney but they won’t make a move until the summer of 2019. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are on the lookout for a new left-back but will only address the situation next summer. It is believed that Everton pulled out of the race to sign the Scottish fullback after they were unable to meet the Hoops’ demands.
Tierney still has five years remaining on his current contract at Celtic Park so the Bhoys are in no rush to sell. However, some sources are now claiming that United could come back in with an offer for him next season as they look to address their left-back problems.
The 21-year-old prospect had put in some brilliant displays at Parkhead during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. The Scottish talent had featured in 55 matches under Brendan Rodgers last term, finding the back of the net 4 times while notching up a whopping tally of 11 assists in all competitions.
Tierney is exactly the kind of player who can thrive under the masterful guidance of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford. He will be a great candidate to take up the left-back role for United which is why the Special One should go all out to seal a move for him next summer.
The Glaswegian outfit were able to pull off a domestic treble in the last campaign but had another poor European campaign which will be a cause for concern for the reigning champions of Scotland. Hence, Rodgers should look to acquire some talented players this summer if his club are to challenge in Europe in the upcoming campaign.
Retaining some of their top players like Tierney could go a long way in helping Rodgers improve his side’s performance both domestically and in Europe next term. However, if the Celtic manager decides to bring in a suitable replacement using the money generated from the potential sale of Tierney, then it might be a move worth considering.

The Douglas-born wonderkid is also very versatile and primarily operates as a left-back but can also be unleashed on a more advanced role down the left wing or as a centre-back which makes him a perfect fit for the Hoops. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Tierney and whether United ends up getting the player next summer.
