A Spor are reporting that Liverpool and Vida have come to an agreement regarding the transfer of the defender to the English Premier League, although it seems that the Reds still have work to do and are a long way from securing the Croatian’s signature. Vida has apparently agreed to a two-year deal with an option of another year although Liverpool still have to sort out the fee with Besiktas. The Turkish club wants £22m for the centre-half.
The 29-year-old central defender had a fine showing at the FIFA World Cup held in Russia as he played an integral part in Croatia reaching the final. However, it was not meant to be as the Croatians suffered a 4-2 humiliating loss at the hands of tournament winners France. Currently plying his trade in Turkey with Besiktas, Vida has won quite a few admirers after his dominant showcasing in Russia.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp should look to add depth to his squad as the Reds look set to challenge for silverware in this upcoming season. A number of accolades are up for grabs and Liverpool will need to have a big enough squad to challenge for top honours.
Klopp should be fearful that injuries might disrupt his team’s chances at glory and should look to add Vida to a shaky defensive line. Joel Matip has already been sidelined through injury in their pre-season encounter against Borussia Dortmund and the addition of Vida would bring stability within the team.
Vida would make a fine addition to whichever team he plays for. He is commanding in defence and fearless when making a tackle. Despite his lack of pace, Vida is powerful in the air and can be a threat during set-pieces.

Jurgen Klopp had also recently suggested that his side is unlikely to make any more defensive signings this transfer period. The Premier League club will welcome a player of Vida’s calibre with open arms and their fans will be eager to watch him play in the greatest football league.
