Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen is a talented shot-stopper who is second in line behind German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and perhaps rightly so. That being said, there’s no denying that the Dutchman has immense confidence in his capabilities and requires more game time as he is not getting any younger and will touch the 30-year mark in a year’s time.
TalkSPORT now report that Liverpool have made an offer for Cillessen and that the goalkeeper is studying the offer that has been placed in front of him. Since making the switch from Dutch outfit Ajax to Barcelona in 2016, Cillessen has barely featured for the Catalonian side, making only 2 league appearances. He has found game time during Barcelona’s cup ties, but the keeper has much more to offer at hand. He has taken his overall tally to 21 appearances but a keeper of his standards ought to be given more time in goal.
The custodian now sets his sights on playing a more important part in his team’s overall performances and staying in Spain will prevent the 29-year-old from fulfilling that opportunity. Liverpool is believed to have offered their number 1 shirt to the Dutch international, as the Reds’ patience wears thin with current number 1 Loris Karius. The German shot-stopper has faced enough humiliation after his drastic performance in last season’s Champions League final, making himself the laughing stock of all those who witnessed the game as two “schoolboy” errors from him allowed Real Madrid to seal their 14th European crown success.
The Reds were keen to complete the capture of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson from Italian club Roma but had to cut their pursuit short, as they discovered Roma’s asking price for Alisson would burn a hole in their pockets. They do have the funds, however, to cover the cost at which Cillessen is priced at.
During his two years at Barcelona, Jasper has acquired valuable knowledge which will no doubt benefit him during his next chapter in his professional career. However, if he does decide on a move away from Barcelona, it will do him and his confidence a world of good.

Liverpool, on the other hand, should keep their options open to bring in a new custodian and a move for the Barcelona ace is the need of the hour for them. However, if they can’t land him, bringing in someone like present Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland will also do them a world of good.
