Daniel Sturridge has been an enigma at Liverpool over the past few seasons. He has fans divided in their opinion as many still want to see the striker back at his best and many consider him as a liability in the squad given his injury track record. The English striker has often been compared to glass and is the butt of jokes on the internet as he spends most of his time on the treatment table instead of the field.
However, Jurgen Klopp is set to give him another go at Anfield as it seems likely that he will stay at the club for another season. The 28-year-old had an impressive run in the preseason games and it seems like Klopp is impressed with the English striker. He can be termed as one of the most talented strikers to come out of England in the last few years but he has been unable to keep himself fit for the most part of those periods.
The forward is set to enter the final year of his contract and Klopp does run the risk of losing him for free next season. It’s believed that he is earning £120,000 per week and the Merseyside outfit is keen to hold on to him.
The English forward has a decent scoring record for Liverpool as he has found the back of the net 64 times in 133 appearances. However, under Klopp, he has struggled to get game time as the German manager is known to deploy a high-intensity pressing game which doesn’t bode well for an injury prone Sturridge.
It will be tough for the striker to break into the starting eleven but if he remains fit, he can be an instrumental player for Klopp coming off the bench. When in full flow, his goal-scoring abilities are second to none and Liverpool will know that to win big trophies, they will need to have depth in their squad. Mohamed Salah was unfortunately injured in the Champions League final last season and the Merseyside club had to bring on an unprepared Adam Lallana on the pitch. Maybe someone like Sturridge, if he would have been available, would have been a better option.

The player has impressed Klopp with his fitness and application in the preseason games and every good wisher of Liverpool will be keeping their fingers crossed. He is almost a forgotten player at Merseyside and maybe in the final year of his contract, he can turn out to be the surprise hero.
