As per latest reports, Liverpool are not interested in pursuing a deal for Paulo Dybala as a Philippe Coutinho replacement in the number ten role. A move for Nabil Fekir from Olympique Lyon already fell through last month due to complications over the player’s medical examination.
Jurgen Klopp had chosen the Frenchman to be his creative talisman on attack and had even agreed upon a £53m transfer fee with the Ligue 1 outfit. Unfortunately, for the Reds, Lyon declined to entertain their claims for a price reduction following the player’s medical and the deal ended up going bust.
Now with just a month left in the summer transfer window, Klopp will have to turn his attention towards alternate options. Juventus’ recent acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo could have led rumours to spike over a possible Dybala departure.
The 5-time Balon d’Or winner is understood to be one of the highest paid professionals in world football next to Lionel Messi and Neymar and has arrived on a 4-year contract. Other than paying a record-breaking €100m (£88.3m) for the 33-year-old, Juventus will also have to accommodate a mammoth sized contract in their wage books.
This could push the Serie A champions to sell at least one of their key assets which are Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala. However, it will also be foolish to entertain the possible departure of the latter since he is one of the best creative heads in the Bianconeri.
Dybala is an Argentina international who draws a lot of comparisons with world superstar and Ronaldo’s professional nemesis, Lionel Messi. Just like the Barcelona forward, Dybala likes to operate from the right side of the pitch and utilises his close control and incredible balance to weave his way out of tight spots.
The 24-year-old enjoys cutting in with his dominant left foot and has a keen eye for goal as well. He has formed a lucrative partnership with Higuain in attack to deliver with 26 goals and 7 assists the last term.
Dybala will be called upon to do the same with Ronaldo in the near future especially to set up a firm presence in the European stage. With Ronaldo’s game drilled towards scoring an outrageous number of goals, he will require the supporting cast to step up and supply him the ball in the opposition half.

Maybe Liverpool is wise to switch their interests towards other potential candidates since Juventus is expected to mark up a high price for their number ten.
