Leicester City were close to qualifying for the Europa League last season but the lack of quality and depth in the first team was evident towards the latter stages of the previous campaign. Claude Puel, who took charge of the club early last season, will now be desperate to make sure that they can break into the top-6 of the Premier League points table next term.
He will need some additions to his squad but Puel is also determined to change his backroom staff this summer. which has seen Leicester City bid adieu to their assistant manager Michael Appleton.
The former West Brom midfielder started his coaching career with the Baggies as a caretaker boss and spent stints with Portsmouth and Oxford City, before joining the Foxes in 2017. He joined as an assistant to then manager Craig Shakespeare, who lost his job just four months later.
Appleton was in charge of the Foxes for a couple of games, acting as a caretaker as he helped the club to two wins in the two league games that he managed. However, he was soon replaced by Claude Puel in October and has since acted as the assistant to the French manager.
He was a crucial part of the club last season but reports now suggest that Puel has decided on a backroom overhaul this summer, leaving Appleton out of the club. The Salford born assistant manager is now relieved of his duties as Puel has already found his replacement.
The Foxes have appointed a relative unknown to English football in Jacques Bonnevay as their new assistant manager. Bonnevay is a French footballer, who played his first senior game in 1976. He turned in a manager in 1999 and has spent time in France, Morocco and Turkey. He has been out of a club job for a decade now but is now the no.2 to Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium.
The 56-year old was part of the coaching staff for the Japan national side recently and has an impressive CV. He will be expected to help Claude Puel establish a strong Leicester City side in the years to come.
