Leeds United are hoping to secure the services of Middlesbrough forward Patrick Bamford this summer. According to recent reports, the Peacocks are lining up a move for the English frontman during this summer transfer period. It is believed that Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is still on the lookout for a new striker ahead of the new season and Bamford fits the bill perfectly.
Some sources have recently claimed that the Whites are hoping to seal a move for the Boro prospect in the coming weeks after failing to land a forward in this transfer window so far. The 24-year-old had put in a number of outstanding performances at the Riverside Stadium during the course of last season which has gone unnoticed by other clubs.
The Grantham-born talent had featured in 44 matches for the Boro last season, scoring 13 goals while grabbing one assist in all competitions. He has also represented his nation England at various youth levels and is exactly the kind of talent who could thrive under the masterful leadership of Marcelo Bielsa if given the opportunity to make a switch to Elland Road this summer.
Bamford is vastly experienced in the Championship and has previously played for clubs such as Milton Keynes Dons, Derby County, Crystal Palace, Norwich City, Burnley and Nottingham Forest during his career.
The West Yorkshire giants had only managed to grind out a disheartening 13th placed finish in the English second division last term. Hence, their new Argentine manager is in dire need of some quality additions in this post-season if his players are to compete for top honours in the following campaign.
The addition of Bamford will definitely bolster Leeds’ attacking options at Elland Road. The Peacocks has some promising forwards in their ranks such as Tyler Roberts, Hadi Sacko, Caleb Ekuban and Ezgjan Alioski vying for a place up top in Bielsa’s frontline. The potential acquisition of Bamford will undoubtedly improve their side significantly and add more competition for places within the Leeds squad.
