Leeds United have parted ways with their Spanish forward Adrian Balboa this summer. The Whites striker has left the club in favour of a move to Spanish side CF Badalona during this summer transfer period. The Segunda Division B outfit has confirmed the transfer on their twitter account with a photo of Balboa wearing his new club’s jersey.

The post, when translated states, “We have reached an agreement with Leeds United for the transfer of striker Adrian Balboa. Welcome!”
The 24-year-old joined the Whites last summer but failed to make a single first-team appearance for the club during the course of last season. He was unable to cut the mustard at Elland Road and has now been shipped out in search of more first-team experience.
The Barcelona born striker did not even feature for the Leeds Under-23 team after penning a three-year contract with the West Yorkshire team last summer. Leeds United have developed a reputation in recent times of developing young players and Balboa was signed with the hope that he can make it big at Elland Road. However, things have not clicked for the player following his switch to England last year and now, the club has shipped him out to the lower leagues of Spanish football.
The Yorkshire heavyweights had only managed to claim a disheartening 13th placed finish in the English second division last season. Hence, their new Argentine manager, Marcelo Bielsa is in dire need of some quality additions before the transfer window slams shut which will enable his players to compete for a top 6 place in the following campaign.
Retaining some of their top young talents could go a long way in assisting them to build for a bigger and brighter future under Bielsa but Balboa was certainly not one of those players which is why the club has decided to move on without his services. It will definitely benefit the player to gain regular first-team football while the Whites can look to concentrate on bringing in some more promising youngsters to Elland Road.

The departure of the Spanish starlet won’t affect Bielsa’s first-team even the slightest as they look to fight for promotion next term. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Balboa and whether his time in the third tier of Spanish football turns out to be productive.
