Leeds United are hoping to secure the services of Kasimpasa striker Mbaye Diagne this summer. According to recent reports, the Whites are eager to seal a move to bring the Senegalese forward to Elland Road during this summer transfer period.
The 26-year-old has recently commented on his future and was quoted to have said, “We’ll see what happens. But there is also an option to renew my contract with Kasimpasa, but this all depends on Kasımpasa, depending on the offer from Kasimpasa, the desire of the club. Then we’ll see what happens together.”
The ex-Juventus frontman has found the back of the net 12 times in 17 matches for the Turkish Super Lig side in the last campaign which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. It is understood that Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is on the lookout for a new striker this summer and Diagne fits the bill perfectly.
Here is a detailed scout report of the 26-year-old Leeds United target:
Player Profile:
Full name – Mbaye Diagne
Date of birth – 28/10/1991 (age 26)
Born In – Dakar
Height – 1.93m (6ft 3in)
Position – Centre-Forward
Current Club: Kasimpasa (17 apps/ 12 goals)
National team: Senegal (0 caps/ 0 goals)
Brief History:
Diagne started off his football career while playing in the Serie D with Bra but soon sealed a dream move to Juventus in the summer of 2013. However, he struggled to break into the Juve first-team and had to spend some time out on loan at different clubs which included AC Ajaccio, Lierse SK, Shabab and KVC Westerlo to further his development.
The Senegalese forward was finally shipped out of Turin in the summer of 2015 when he joined Ujpest FC but his time in Hungary did not last long as he switched clubs once again and made a move to TJ Teda in Turkey. His two-year stint with the Turkish club saw Kasimpasa make a move for him at the start of this year where he has finally burst on to the scene while scoring lots of goals in the Turkish Super Lig last season.
Player Strengths:
The 26-year-old forward is quite versatile and can operate on either wing or as a centre-forward up top which makes him a perfect fit for any of his potential suitors. Diagne has a lot of strength and is a commanding presence inside the opposition box. He can hold up the ball effectively and is known to finish using his head with ease.
At 6ft 3inch, the Senegalese striker has an advantage over most defenders and can use his height to leap above them to either score goals with his head or set up his teammates. His finishing is also one of his best traits while the player also packs a lot of power with his shots from range.
Player Weaknesses:
Diagne can be one dimensional at times with his outlook of the game and is far from the finished product. He needs to work on his positioning and passing in the final third. Although he is quite tall and can be a menace for the opposition defenders with his head, yet he doesn’t have a great leap which would have given him more of an advantage in front of goal.
