If latest reports are to be believed then Leeds United are keen on moving in for Middlesbrough‘s Britt Assombalonga. The striker reportedly had a bust-up with the manager Tony Pulis in a pre-season training camp in Austria although the sources say that the matter is not too serious.
The Whites have been fairly inactive in the transfer market as they earlier had a bigger fish to fry by appointing a new manager at Elland Road. Now that they have acquired the services of Marcelo Bielsa, we can expect some activity in the transfer market from the Whites. As of now, they have only signed Lewis Baker from Chelsea on a season-long loan.
Signing a striker will be of topmost priority for Bielsa as the team is looking for a striker who can score 15-20 odd goals in a season. Last term, their top scorer Kemar Roofe managed a return of 11 goals in the Championship and apart from him, none of the other players managed to touch the ten goal mark.
This is not the first striker that the Peacocks have been linked with this summer. Names like Matej Vydra, Abel Hernandez, Jonathan Kodjia have been doing the rounds but it is still not clear which option the former Argentina manager will go after.
The Congolese striker joined the Teessiders last year only so this rumour will rather come as a shock to most of the Riverside faithful. The 25-year-old managed 15 goals last campaign and was the focal point for his side as they qualified for the playoffs. However, they couldn’t continue their run as they were beaten by Aston Villa in the semi-finals by a narrow one-goal margin.
The striker came into prominence after his impressive displays for Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough signed him for a club record fee of £15m. The Whites sold Chris Wood to Burnley last August and since then the team has lacked a goal-scoring threat.

The rumours have heated up regarding his exit as the player had a bust with the manager but Tony Pulis is an experienced campaigner and he will be aware that Assombalonga is too good a player to let go at the moment. The 25-year-old wasn’t a preferred starter last season as there were quite a few games where Pulis preferred to go in with Patrick Bamford. The West Yorkshire outfit might see this as a chance to make a move for him but as of now, one can only call this move as a far-fetched rumour.
