Leeds United are eyeing a loan move for Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman this summer. According to recent reports, the Peacocks are hoping to secure the services of the English shot-stopper during this summer transfer period. It is understood that the Peacocks are on the lookout for a new goalie and Blackman fits the bill perfectly.
Some sources have recently claimed that Marcelo Bielsa has turned his attention to the Blues keeper after missing out on Angus Gunn, who sealed a move to Southampton for £10m on a five-year contract. The West Yorkshire side are now trying to arrange a season-long loan deal for the Chelsea talent which could benefit everyone involved.
Blackman had put in a number of eye-catching displays during his loan spell at Sheffield United last season. His outstanding contributions have caught the attention of the Leeds chiefs who are now eager to bring him to Elland Road.
The 24-year-old had featured in 33 matches for the Blades last season, conceding 35 goals while keeping 10 clean sheets across all competitions. He is exactly the kind of player who can compete with Bailey Peacock-Farrell for a place between the sticks in Bielsa’s first-team.
The Yorkshire side had only managed to achieve a disheartening 13th placed finish in the Skybet Championship table last season. Hence, Bielsa is in need to make some significant changes to his squad this summer if they are to compete for a playoff place in the following campaign.
The addition of Blackman will definitely bolster Bielsa’s goalkeeping options at Elland Road. The Peacocks has only one recognised keeper in Bailey Peacock-Farrell in their ranks so Bielsa needs to move swiftly in order to sign a new keeper this summer. The potential acquisition of Blackman will undoubtedly improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Leeds squad.

At 24, the London-born keeper still has his best years ahead of him which Leeds could look to utilize in the upcoming season. The Blues goalie might not be ready for top-flight football yet but he has proved his worth in the Championship last season which is why Leeds should go all out to snap him up this summer. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Blackman and whether he ends up sealing a move to Elland Road before the start of the new season.
