After an exciting campaign in the Championship, that saw them win the league title, Wolves are now a team ready to compete with the best in the English top flight. The squad at Molineux was easily one of the strongest in the Championship but Nuno Espirito Santo will now have to make some quality additions to his squad, to have shot at beating the best teams in the Premier League.
But it is more important for the club to make sure that they retain the core of the side that walked their way to promotion last season. One such player, who is now wanted by other clubs in the top flight is Ivan Cavaleiro.
Having started his senior career with Benfica, the winger moved to Wolves in 2016 from AS Monaco and made an immediate impact at the club, scoring five goals in his debut season in the Championship. He has only managed to improve as a footballer in his time in England and was one of the first names on the team sheet for Santo last season.
He picked up nine goals and 12 assists in 32 starts in all competitions and is expected to be a mainstay for the side next season as well. He made his international debut four years ago but has failed to live up to the expectations but his consistency last season has seen a few clubs show interest in him.
It was revealed that Wolves knocked back a bid from Huddersfield Town earlier last month and it is now understood that fellow Premier League newbies Fulham are now interested in his services. The Cottagers have already made a bid of £12m for Cavaleiro, which was rejected. But reports from the Mirror now claim that Slavisa Jokanovic is determined to land the Portuguese winger and is ready to up his bid till £14m.
At just 24, Cavaleiro has shown great promise recently and is certainly set for a prosperous career. He still has some work to do on a few attributes in his game but is definitely a player who will trouble even the best of full-backs in the league.
His versatility and previous experience in England will make him a smart by for Fulham but it is hard to see Santo let a crucial part of his squad leave this summer. Wolves will want to go into the Premier League season in full strength and will only look to add quality to their side.

They will not be willing to let Cavaleiro leave any time soon so if Fulham are to lure Santo into selling, they must come up with a better offer. The improved offer gives no real incentive for Wolves to sell so at the moment, Cavaleiro will stay put at Molineux.
