Leeds United might just have succeeded in bringing in Dimitar Sheytanov on a free transfer from Levski Sofia. The 19-year-old goalkeeper supposedly could not hold back his enthusiasm over the move and leaked a picture of him wearing the Peacocks training jersey already. He also posted a supportive tweet over the club’s 1-0 victory over Ossett United.

While some sources have reached out to Leeds for a confirmation, many can safely confirm that the transfer might already have been completed. Sheytanov ended terms with Sofia over a disagreement regarding his playing time.
The shot-stopper had demanded more game time for the coming season but his proposal was rejected by the Bulgarian outfit. He had grown frustrated after failing to make a single senior team appearance since getting promoted to the senior squad.
He has already posted a heartfelt goodbye to his former teammates at Bulgaria over his social media page. That somehow eliminates chances of him being on trial at Elland Road. A professional footballer would only be foolish to turn down a new contract without the prospects of a better one awaiting them.
Sheytanov understandably is a highly promising talent who might be set to join the Whites U23 squad for the coming season, under the management of Carlos Corberan. He was formerly noticed in action for the Levski U19 side in the UEFA Youth League. The shot-stopper took to the pitch on two occasions and let in 6 goals with no clean sheets registered.
He also has 2 caps for the Bulgaria U17 side and wears the number one shirt for the U19 side. Sheytanov will be entering a highly rewarding situation at West Yorkshire and might have better chances of featuring for the senior side than he did with Sofia.
Marcelo Bielsa has brought in Jamal Blackman from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal. He also has Bailey Peacock-Farrell as a backup, since bidding goodbye to Andy Lonergan and Felix Wiedwald.

Blackman is set to feature as the club’s starting goalkeeper for the upcoming season but Sheytanov could receive some minutes as a third option. He is a decent addition to the club ranks and a forward step towards the club’s future and can definitely be considered as a strong candidate for the number one position at Elland Road.
