Everton are stepping up their chase to secure the services of Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne this summer. According to recent reports, the Toffees are prepared to hold talks with the Catalans over a potential transfer for the French defender during this summer transfer period.
Some sources are now claiming that the sporting director of the Merseyside club, Marcel Brands has flown out to Spain to finalise negotiations for both Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina. The French full-back was a sporadic option at the Nou Camp last season with Ernesto Valverde preferring Jordi Alba to take up the left-back berth in his first-team.
The Blues of Merseyside are now looking to bring Digne to Goodison Park with the lure of regular first-team opportunities under Marco Silva next season. The 25-year-old has a wealth of experience in France, Italy and Spain which makes him a perfect fit for the Toffees. He knows what it takes to win and will bring a positive attitude to the Merseyside club if they can finalise his switch in the coming weeks before the transfer window slams shut.
The French sensation is exactly the kind of player who can flourish under the guidance of Silva if given the honour to lace his boots at Goodison Park next season.
The Merseyside club had a mediocre season last term as they finished in the 8th place of the English top tier table even after falling off the pace early on. Marco Silva’s squad needs some injection of quality during this summer window if the Blues are to progress and clinch a European place in the upcoming season.
The potential acquisition of Digne will undoubtedly bolster Silva’s defensive options at Goodison Park. Everton have an array of full-backs which include Leighton Baines, Cuco Martina, Jonjoe Kenny and Séamus Coleman competing for a left-back berth in Silva’s backline. The addition of Digne will add more competition for places within the Toffees squad and improve their team significantly going into the new season as they look to close the gap to the Premier League‘s Top 6.

At 25, the Barca outcast is at his prime and will be an ideal asset for the Toffees as they look to improve on their league performance next season. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Digne and whether Silva’s team are successful in convincing him to make a switch to Goodison Park this summer.
