Everton are currently eyeing up 6 candidates for the left-back position including SSC Lazio’s Jordan Lukaku. The 23-year-old is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract with the Serie A outfit and could on the move this very summer to prevent a significant loss in the future. He has been capped 7 times for Belgium and is notably the brother of Manchester United striker and former Toffees player, Romelu Lukaku. He is a cemented starter under Simone Inzaghi, making 44 appearances for the Eagles the last term and delivering with 3 assists and one goal.
Jordan Lukaku has a distinctly noticeable left foot which he utilises to great effect from the flanks. He was primarily trained as a left-back but has the attacking talent to be fielded as a winger.
Everton are set to rectify their previous season investments by bidding adieu to as many as eight of the club’s current players. Marcel Brands is working in close quarters with the new manager, Marco Silva, to not only trim the fat but also to bolster the club ranks with at least four new faces this summer.
The Toffees had shelled out £200m over the 2017/18 season to bring in prestigious names but were met with severe disappointment. Sam Allardyce managed to guide the side out of the relegation scraps but could not climb any higher than the 8th spot in the Premier League. Now, Farhad Moshiri has agreed to match his past season spendings to finally start challenging for a European qualification spot.
Leighton Baines who is due to turn 34 this December, is Everton’s only senior left-back option. He has been linked with interests from the Major League Soccer outfit, Portland Timbers. Even if he remains at Goodison, Silva has to bring in the younger legs of a talented professional if he is to best implement his strategies onto the pitch next term.
This past season we witnessed Rhu-Endly Cuco Martina filling in as a makeshift option on left-back when Leighton Baines went down to an injury. The former did a decent job but could not really bring the same amount of impact as the veteran Englishman due to the lack of technical abilities and a dominant left foot.

Lukaku is one of the best young talents in the Italian top-flight who was called up by Roberto Martinez for Belgium’s warm-up games ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He has the physical attributes just like his brother to succeed in the Premier League and could be acquired for a whole lot cheaper than the other reported Everton targets.
