Ademola Lookman is slowly but surely shaping up to be a future prospect to watch out for in the Premier League. Lookman is now being evaluated as a player RB Leipzig would like to have permanently among their ranks.
The German club are believed to be willing to pay £12m for the highly rated winger. With Everton dismissing the initial offer, Leipzig are now set to make an improved one. Lookman is believed to be keen on making the switch happen.
His impressive stint with the German outfit has now left new Everton manager Marco Silva pushing the club to seal the permanent stay of the England under 21 international. The Toffees had a decent campaign last time but will want to go one step better and qualify for a Europa League spot.
5 points separated the Toffees from Burnley in 7th place. Everton conceded 58 goals while scoring 44. They need more goals if they are to challenge for a place higher up the Premier League table. Lookman has the talent to provide them with exactly that.
The pacey winger initially looked set to be loaned out to Championship club Derby County where their main aim was to get Lookman to play regularly and attain valuable game time. The deal collapsed as RB Leipzig was a preferred destination for the youngster. He did not fail to disappoint and went on to redeem himself in the Bundesliga.
Lookman impressed on his first appearance for the Bulls coming on as a late substitute and grabbing the winning goal for Leipzig in their league clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach. During his short loan spell in Germany, the talented youth made 11 appearances and scored 5 goals. Impressive stats for a player who was deemed not good enough by former Everton manager Sam Allardyce.
RB Leipzig did benefit from Lookman’s goals as they secured a 6th place finish to the forgone Bundesliga season. They also qualified for the Europa League and there is a sense that they would prefer to have Lookman help them do better than last time around. They fell two points short of a Champions League place and are keen to go a step further.
