Reading centre-back Liam Moore has handed in a transfer request amidst speculation linking him with a move to Brighton & Hove Albion this summer. According to Sky Sports, the Royals defender has officially requested a transfer out of the club with the Seagulls looking to secure his services during this summer transfer period.
Chris Hughton’s side managed to have a strong campaign last term but they need to recruit wisely in the coming weeks so that the club can improve on their league performance next term. Moore was a regular feature in the Royals first-team and had put in a number of majestic performances for the Berkshire outfit during the course of last season.
The 25-year-old had made 49 appearances for Reading in the last campaign and has 3 goals and 2 assists to his name in all competitions. He has a wealth of experience in English football and could turn out to be a shrewd addition to the Seagulls backline if they can pull off a transfer this summer.
Moore is exactly the kind of defender who can thrive under the guidance of Chris Hughton if given the opportunity to play regular football at the Amex Stadium in the upcoming campaign.
The Seagulls are hoping to avoid the drop once again this season and to do that, Hughton needs to add more quality to his squad in the coming weeks before the transfer window slams shut next month. The acquisition of Moore will definitely bolster Hughton’s defensive options at the Amex Stadium.
The East Sussex outfit has some talented centre-backs in their ranks such as Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and Gaëtan Bong competing for a place in their backline. The potential addition of Moore will undoubtedly improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within Hughton’s squad. With just three first-team centre-backs in their squad, Hughton needs to bring another fresh face in defence to have a strong squad ahead of the new season. Hence, it is no wonder that the Seagulls are going after Moore in this transfer window.
