Crystal Palace are hoping to secure the services of Borussia Dortmund forward Andre Schurrle this summer. According to recent reports, the Eagles are looking to seal a move for the German international during this summer transfer period.
It is believed that Dortmund is eager to part ways with the player in the coming weeks as he has failed to live up to the expectations at the Westfalenstadion. Some sources have now claimed that Roy Hodgson’s Palace is keen on bringing the German talent to Selhurst Park as they look to build a strong enough squad capable of challenging on all fronts next season.
Schurrle was not a part of Dortmund’s team which took on Manchester City in a pre-season friendly earlier this week which has thrown his future in Germany in doubt. The 27-year-old is exactly the kind of player who could thrive under the guidance of Hodgson if given the opportunity to showcase his talents at Selhurst Park.
The German forward will be an ideal replacement for Wilfried Zaha, who is eager to part ways with the club this summer. Hence, the Eagles should go all out to secure his services this summer.
Crystal Palace had a solid campaign last term when they were able to attain a strong 11th placed finish in the English top-flight. Hodgson needs to make some smart acquisitions in the coming days if his team are to avoid relegation in the upcoming campaign.
The potential addition of Schurrle will undoubtedly bolster Hodgson’s attacking options at Selhurst Park. The Eagles have the likes of Andros Townsend, Jason Puncheon and Zaha vying for a place in the Palace starting XI. Hence, it is no secret that Hodgson needs to acquire some wide men in the near future so that he can improve on their league position next season.

The German midfielder is quite versatile and can operate in a number of different roles across the football pitch. He primarily operates in the left flank but can also be deployed in on the right wing or as a forward up top which makes him a perfect fit for the Eagles. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Schurrle and whether he ends up plying his trade at the London club before the start of the new season.
