Manchester United have retained their interest in Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic, who they failed to land last summer. In addition to that, Croatia’s splendid run in the World Cup final this year has now seen exciting winger Ante Rebic added to the list of players Jose Mourinho wants at his club next season.
Having failed to win any silverware last season, Jose Mourinho is desperate to add some quality to several areas of his squad and reports now suggest that he is after Croatian duo Perisic and Rebic, this summer. Perisic is a player now familiar to Manchester United fans but who is Rebic and what will he bring to Old Trafford?
Born and brought up in Split, Croatia, the 24-year old moved to Italy with Fiorentina in 2013 but failed to establish himself in the first team, spending three years out on loan at RB Leipzig, Hellas Verona and Eintracht Frankfurt. At Commerzbank-Arena, he made an immediate impact and registered 12 goals and five assists in 56 Bundesliga appearances over two seasons. Frankfurt made his deal permanent in January this year and his efforts in Germany saw him earn a place in the national side for the competition in Russia.
Rebic started the World Cup campaign as a regular in the first team, starting on the flank and was crucial in almost every game, as his side only bowed out of the competition in the final. He registered just one goal but his tireless displays on the wing have now attracted interests from various clubs in Europe.
He is quick and smart with the ball at his feet, can dribble past opponents with ease and also has a decent cross up his shoulder. He can test the keeper from long range but is adept at creating chances in the final third and at just 24, has a bright future ahead of him.
He has 22 international appearances to add to 150+ league appearances in European top flights and is a player ready for the English challenge. He adds width to the Manchester United attack, that lacks genuine wingers in the side. Mourinho used Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard on the wings while Anthony Martial struggled to make a mark in that role. However, none of those names is a natural winger, leaving Rebic as the only wide-man in the squad.

It is reported that Rebic will cost around £44m, a price that has definitely risen due to the World Cup. He does have the potential to justify his price tag and will be a decent acquisition for the Red Devils. Do you think he is the right man for the side?
