One of French football’s hottest property Jean Michael Seri of OGC Nice is being linked with a move to Chelsea. The midfielder has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs as of now and it seems like even the Blues have joined the bandwagon to sign the player.
However, it’s believed that the move for the player will not be made until Chelsea sort out their managerial situation at the club. Antonio Conte has been expected to leave Stamford Bridge for quite a while now but no official announcements have been made by the club. Napoli’s manager Maurizio Sarri is likely to replace him and it can very well come down to him to decide whether they need to go for the 26-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder.
The West London club missed out on the coveted Champions League spot last season and as a result, the pressure has mounted on the Italian manager even though he delivered a silverware in the form of the FA Cup. Chelsea were lacklustre throughout the previous campaign and they can lose some of their key men like Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard this summer.
The club seems to be in a turmoil and the new manager will certainly have a lot on his platter whenever he comes in. By delaying the decision to appoint a new head coach, the Blues are digging a hole for themselves as the new manager will get less time in the transfer market to improve the team and go after his targets.
Seri is a conservative midfielder whose job is to keep things tight and ticking in midfield. The player is calm and composed on the ball. He even has a creative side to his game which enables him to make some defence-splitting passes.
Last season he had made 43 appearances for his side and managed to score 2 goals and 10 assists. The player can go on to form a formidable partnership with N’golo Kante in the middle of the park. Their last season’s signing Tiémoué Bakayoko failed to get going in his first season in the Premier League. Cesc Fabregas seems way past his prime and doesn’t seem to be good enough at the moment to carry his team in midfield. So one can clearly say that there is a need for a good midfielder in the Chelsea roster.

The club is currently in doldrums and hasn’t made a single signing in the transfer market. It is only likely to happen when the new manager is at the helm so it remains to be seen whether he will see Seri in his plans for the future.
