Chelsea are in for a struggle this summer as they battle to hold onto their top performers as they begin to slip away from their hands and into the clutches of European heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Madrid are eyeing Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois whereas Barcelona are looking to bag Willian from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are on the look-out for a replacement in goal should Courtois make his way out of the West London club and The Sun is reporting that out of favour Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart could be a potential replacement for the towering Belgium shot-stopper.
Hart has loads of Premier League and Champions League experience with him but will have to bring his A-game to the Bridge if he is to gain the trust of the Chelsea faithful. The Englishman, who is 31 years of age, failed to keep a place on the City team as manager Pep Guardiola decided against having the City fan favourite as his sergeant in goal. Hart departed for loan spells with Serie-A team Torino and a call-up back to the Premier League with West Ham United but failed to make an impact at the East London club with performances to forget while being away from City.
Chelsea plans to spend £5m for Hart in an attempt to bring a pair of safe hands to replace Courtois, but the Chelsea faithful seems keen on not having Hart on the team. Drastic and poor performances at West Ham were like the final nails inserted on Hart’s coffin and that has made the Chelsea fans think against the idea of having him.
The Chelsea hierarchy, however, doesn’t seem to agree with their fans and continues to be admirers of Joe Hart’s capabilities. Chelsea’s new boss Maurizio Sarri is also keen for the deal to take place as Hart’s price tag is a relatively cheap one and because he also helps the Blues to increase the count of homegrown players in the squad.

Chelsea seems to be playing a risky game by opting to sign players who are well past their prime. The last thing the Blues fans would want is to see is a player like Joe Hart directly replace the world-class Thibaut Courtois. The West London outfit should tread carefully as all eyes are on them at the moment.
