Celtic are set to land Australian international Daniel Arzani. Latest reports suggest that the 19-year-old winger who currently plies his trade for Melbourne City FC will make the switch to Manchester City who in turn will send the player on at least on a two-season loan at Celtic Park.
The Iranian born winger was part of Australia’s squad at the 2018 World Cup where he caught everyone’s eye with some impressive cameos coming off the bench. Manchester City and Celtic seem to have a good working relationship as earlier, Patrick Roberts was part of the Hoops squad on loan from the English giants.
Rodgers confirmed that they were interested in the Australian winger. He said,”All I know is that he is a young Australian, a very talented player and went to the World Cup where he looked very, very good. The club is working hard behind the scenes to try and get some signings in. I think he’s been one that has been identified.”
Manchester City will always have an advantage in getting players from Melbourne City FC and New York City FC as the English club can be termed as their parent organisation.
The Hoops will be looking to continue their domination in the Scottish Premiership as they have now won seven consecutive league titles including a double treble under Brendan Rodgers. However, their rivals Rangers are looking to come hard at them as they have taken some massive strides in the transfer market.
Arzani is also set to reunite with his Australian team-mate Tom Rogic. Last season, he had made 18 appearances in the Australian league and managed a return of two goals and three assists. The player is adept at playing on both the wings and his dribbling skills and pace sets him apart. The Australian has a certain flair to his game as he grew up playing street football and futsal in confined places which allowed him to get better in close control situations.
