Celtic are hoping to continue their domination in Scottish football as Brendan Rodgers is still looking to add reinforcements to the squad. They pulled off a massive coup by signing Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint Germain and are currently eyeing a move for impressive Welsh fullback Tom James who currently plies his trade for Yeovil Town in League 2 of the English division.
The 22-year-old is good enough to play anywhere across the back four but more often than not he is used in the right back spot. The Hoops aren’t the only ones who are vying for his signature as Championship outfits like Hull City and Swansea City are also said to be in the race to sign him. If reports are to be believed then both the clubs are already in contact with the tier 4 side regarding the sale of the player and Rodgers will have to move in quick if he wants to get his man.
The Scottish Champions have been monitoring the player’s situation over the last twelve months and he has entered in the final year of his contract. It is expected that Yeovil Town will look to cash in on the player by selling him in the current transfer window. In the last campaign, he was a regular feature for his side as he made 51 appearances in all competitions and played all across the back four for his side.
Tom James started his youth career with Welsh outfit Cardiff City who recently got promoted to the Premier League. James was there from 2004-2017 and even managed to make one appearance in the Premier League for the Bluebirds. However, he was not deemed to be good enough at the top level at Cardiff, hence he was snapped up by Yeovil Town.
However, he has picked up his game and now the Scottish giants are vying for him. He has represented Wales at the u-19 level and doesn’t seem far off from representing them at senior level.
The Bhoys currently have the Swedish international Mikael Lustig as their first choice right back with Cristian Gamboa being the backup option. However, both of them are set to enter in the final year of their contract and Rodgers might be looking for a long-term option in the right back spot and James can be their man as he is just 22.
