According to latest reports, Arsenal‘s young midfielder Josh Dasilva has been linked with a move to Scottish giants Celtic. Dasilva is a forward turned defensive midfielder and has been with the Gunners since he was 8. He has slowly progressed through their academy and has so far progressed to the bench of the senior squad. He has made his debut for the London outfit when he came on as a substitute in an EFL Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers.
The 19-year-old explained how Arsenal legend Thierry Henry helped him to realise his true potential. He said,” “I’m thankful that Thierry Henry spent a lot of time working with me, he explained I had to concentrate on getting the basics right, like tackling, passing and positioning and then my natural style will come out.”
The Hoops have already signed Arsenal’s young starlet Armstrong Okoflex and signing Dasilva will be a valuable addition to Brendan Rodgers squad. He is still young, so it is likely that he will have to bide his time with Celtic’s youth team before he gets close to Rodgers’ first-team. The player wants a move as he realises that it will tough for him to break into Arsenal’s senior squad and at this point in time, he needs to play every week to reach his true potential.
Dasilva is a defensive midfielder but has a creative side to his game. He is technically gifted and strong on the ball. The Englishman is often the creative spark for his youth side and has an eye for defence-splitting passes which has helped him turn out as a creative midfielder. He spent most of his time at the youth level playing as a striker. It was only last season where he was tried in various roles in midfield and the player did go on to find some success.
Wenger had deployed him on his debut against Doncaster in the back three, so his versatility will be a big asset for Brendan Rodgers. The Bhoys will be looking to continue their domination in Scottish football even though their derby rivals are reinvigorated after bringing in Steven Gerrard.

Rodgers has lost Patrick Roberts and Stuart Armstrong in midfield, so it is clear that he will need to bring in replacements for the outgoing players. Dasilva is still raw and is yet to reach his full potential, hence, Rodgers will have to develop him further before he can incorporate him into the playing eleven. Though, with the talent he possesses, he surely has a bright future up ahead.
