Celtic have dropped their pursuit of free agent Moses Odubajo this summer. According to recent reports, the Hoops are no longer interested in recruiting the former-Hull City defender and has currently shifted their focus to other transfer targets. It is believed that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to build a strong squad capable of challenging on all fronts next season but Odubajo is no longer part of their plans.
The 24-year-old flew out to the Bhoys’ training camp in Austria a few days ago and held talks with Rodgers but the Glaswegian giants have decided to opt against a move to bring him to Parkhead. Odubajo has undergone three knee surgeries and was out of action for two years which hasn’t helped his cause.
However, he is fit now and is looking for a new club to help him in his efforts to reignite his career. Some sources had recently claimed that the Hoops were on the lookout for a new right-back who can provide some real competition to Mikael Lustig. However, they have dropped their interest in Odubajo which could mainly be due to his recent injury record.
Only time will tell whether that decision turns out to be the correct call in the long-run.
The Glaswegian outfit managed to achieve a domestic treble last season but with all of their competitors looking to add to their squad, Rodgers needs to step up his game and bring in some top-class players in this window so that Celtic can maintain their dominance in Scottish football.
The addition of Odubajo would have definitely bolstered his defensive options at Celtic Park. The Bhoys have only one fit right-back in Mikael Lustig in their ranks so it only makes sense for them to bring in another player who can be an ideal understudy for Lustig and add more competition for places within Rodgers’ squad.

At 24, Odubajo still has a lot of time to make a comeback so the player should not give up at all costs and search for an ideal platform to showcase his talents. He has a wealth of experience in English football which could be a good selling point in his attempts to get employed. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the London-born defender and whether he can find a club before the start of the new campaign.
