Burnley’s 2018-19 campaign is almost underway. The Clarets face Aberdeen this Thursday but Sean Dyche is yet to add a fresh face to his side from the previous season. Burnley finished in the 7th place last season and will want to make sure that they have all the assets required to make sure that they can repeat their feat from the previous campaign.
They have allowed stars like Scott Arfield and Chris Long leave the club already but are yet to make their first signing of the summer, even with less than two weeks left on the summer transfer window. So we can expect a fair number of deals to be completed at the Turf Moor in the coming days and one player they are now close to landing is York City youngster Vinny Steele.
Having just moved to York City from Darlington in February, the 16-year old has attracted a number of suitors from around the country. He has shown great progress in the last couple of seasons and reports suggest that Burnley have kept a close eye on the youngster recently and that Dyche is now impressed enough with Steele that he is set to make a move for him in the upcoming days.
At just 16, Steele has all the makings of turning into a star in the Premier League and rubbing shoulders with the quality at Turf Moor is only going to help him in his progress.
With York City dropped to the National League North this year, after relegation from the Football League. it would mean that City are not entitled to any compensation on a deal for Steele.
Dyche has scouted for him extensively in the last couple of months and it is understood that he has been given the go-ahead to open talks with the teenager. It is also reported that Steele has informed the City officials of his desire to move to the English top flight.
Burnley does have a number of exciting stars in their academy but playing regularly in the Premier League will need them to strengthen not just their youth teams but also their starting XI.

Steele, as impressive as he has been, is far from breaking into the first team so signing him will change nothing for Burnley next season. They should act quickly to solve existing problems at the club, as the transfer window is quickly coming to a close. However, Steele is definitely a smart acquisition for the Clarets.
