Brighton and Hove Albion will be looking to continue their stint in the English top flight and for that, they will need to add reinforcements to their squad. Chris Hughton’s men have taken some strides in the transfer market and they are looking to add another player in their repertoire. They are being linked with a move for Alireza Jahanbakhsh who plies his trade for Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar.
The 24-year-old was the top scorer in the Eredivisie last season as he finished the league season with 21 goals to his name. Add to that his 12 assists and one can definitely say that he had a phenomenal season in the Netherlands. He was also part of the Iranian national team at the World Cup who gave a good account of themselves as they were close to qualifying from the group which contained heavyweight sides like Spain and Portugal.
The winger cum forward is one of the best talents to come out of Iran in recent years and a move to Premier League looks imminent. His agent was recently quoted as saying,” We are actually discussing a transfer, but I cannot say which team is involved, but it is not a Dutch club.”
Along with the Seagulls, Leicester City have also shown an interest in the striker. However, according to reports, Brighton are confident of beating Leicester to Jahanbakhsh.
Italian heavyweights Napoli are also in the race for the striker who led his team to a third-place finish in the Dutch league. Hughton has already signed seven players this summer and he is looking to add more firepower to his side for the upcoming season.
The Iranian is a versatile forward and can’t be termed as an out and out winger. He usually plays as a winger but can turn out as a secondary striker as well. Apart from getting goals, his link-up play is top notch and will definitely add a much-needed depth in the final third at the Amex Stadium.

He got most of his goals and assists playing as a right winger and the Seagulls can find it tough to lure him as other Premier League clubs might join the race to land the 24-year-old. It’s being said that the Iranian international dreams of playing in the Bundesliga as quite a few Iranian legends plied their trade in the German top flight. However, as of now, he has attracted interest from the English and Italian clubs.
