Eddie Howe helped Bournemouth to the top flight back in 2015 but the Cherries have not been able to show progress last season, ending the campaign in the 12th place. They broke into the top half of the table the season before last and will now be desperate to achieve the same feat next season.
The squad at Dean Court is not the strongest in the country but the manager’s system at the club has helped them compete with the best teams in the league. However, with teams around them improving their squads in the transfer market, Howe is also in desperate need of some additions, to try and trouble the best of the teams in the Premier League. One such player, they have now managed to land is David Brooks.
The 20-year-old started his youth career with Manchester City but joined Sheffield United’s academy in 2014. Just two years and a loan stint later, he broke into the senior side at Bramall Lane and in just his second campaign, he helped the Blades to a promotion from League One.
He was impressive last season in the Championship as well, registering three goals and four assists in just nine league starts, standing as a crucial part of the squad. He also broke into the Welsh national team last year and has three international caps so far. Brooks is one of the most highly rated youngsters in the second tier in England.
An attacking midfielder by trait, Brooks can also play as a secondary striker and has shown maturity beyond his age in the Championship last season. A specialist over a dead-ball, the 20-year old is a gifted footballer, who is adept at creating chances on a consistent basis.
His technique and ability to read the game in front of him and to make interceptions in dangerous areas makes him all the more impressive. However what has caught the eye of many clubs in the Premier League is his confidence and composure, even in the tightest of spots. At his age, he is showing great promise for the future and is a huge acquisition for the Cherries.
He only signed a four year deal with United in October last season but Bournemouth have finally completed his signing, having scouted him for the entire campaign last time around. Brooks has signed a four-year deal at Dean Court, for an undisclosed fee and is expected to have an impact on the first team next season.

He can play in several roles in the 4-4-1-1 system at the club but it remains to be seen whether he is ready for the challenges in the Premier League.
