Bayern Munich are hoping to secure the services of Manchester United forward Anthony Martial this summer. According to recent reports, the French striker is on the Bundesliga giants’ radar ahead of a potential move during this summer transfer period.
However, they are not the only ones looking to recruit the French sensation with some sources now claiming that Chelsea are also in the race for his signature. Martial was a sporadic presence in Jose Mourinho’s first-team last season and it is believed that he has been left frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities at Old Trafford so far.
Hence, it looks quite possible that the 22-year-old will move on this summer in search of greener pastures with Munich one of the clubs who could potentially snap him up in the coming weeks. With Martial’s future at Manchester in doubt, let’s take a look at three replacements for United to consider in this post-season.
Christian Pulisic
The 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund ace can be considered as one of the brightest young prospects in the world of football and the Red Devils would do well to bring him to Old Trafford. The American wonderkid is very talented and has massive potential which is exactly what United are looking for, as they look towards building a bigger and brighter future in English football. Pulisic had registered 5 goals and made 7 assists in 42 appearances for the Bundesliga club last season. However, the Dortmund star is still young and can play in multiple positions which makes him a perfect fit for any of his potential suitors.
Hirving Lozano (PSV):
The PSV Eindhoven wide man has enjoyed a successful campaign last term and has put in some scintillating performances in the Dutch Eredivisie. The 22-year-old Mexican international had found the back of the net 19 times and created 11 assists in 34 appearances for the Dutch outfit last season in all competitions. He is exactly the kind of talent that Jose Mourinho’s team should look to recruit if they want to replace Martial. The Mexican youngster has a lot of promise and can develop into a future world-beater for Manchester United in the coming years if the club decides to opt for his services in the near future.
Gonzalo Higuain
The Argentine striker has been one of the best goal-getters in European football over the past few years during his time with Napoli and Juventus. The 30-year-old had featured in 50 matches for the Turin giants in the last campaign, scoring 23 goals while providing 8 assists across all competitions. At 30, the South American star still has a good few years left in him to play at a high level which makes him an ideal option for the Red Devils to consider.
