Arsenal are hoping to secure the signature of FC Lorient midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi this summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are inching closer towards sealing a move for the French youngster during this summer transfer period. The North London outfit has already made a number of signings this summer and it is believed that the Ligue 2 talent will be the next one coming in to ply his trade at the Emirates Stadium.
Some sources have recently claimed that Unai Emery’s side will complete a transfer for the French starlet at the beginning of this week. Guendouzi can be considered as one of the hottest prospects in French football. Since making his debut for FC Lorient, the French holding midfielder has made a huge impression in France after putting in a number of eye-catching displays for the Ligue 2 outfit over the last two campaigns.
Guendouzi had featured in 21 matches for FC Lorient last season and has one goal to his name in all competitions. It has also been suggested that the French wonderkid will complete a move to North London in the next few days after both clubs agreed on a €8m deal. He will pen a five-year contract with the Gunners and his medical will reportedly be held on Monday.
The London outfit had a forgetful season last term when they failed to qualify for the Champions League after only managing to achieve a 6th placed finish in the league standings. The new Gunners boss Unai Emery should now look to make some smart additions to his squad in order to challenge on all fronts in the upcoming season.
The potential acquisition of Guendouzi will definitely bolster Emery’s midfield options ahead of the new season. Arsenal have a lot of promising midfield talents such as Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny competing for a place at the centre of the park.
