According to latest reports, Aston Villa are set to part ways with Australian midfielder Mile Jedinak. The 33-year-old played a crucial part in their midfield as they came perilously close to qualifying for the Premier League last season. With Villa under financial trouble, there can be quite a few players who can leave the club in the summer, most notably their star attacking midfielder Jack Grealish.
Villa will have to generate funds to comply with the Financial Fair Play Rules and selling some of their players will be the way to go as they look to stabilise the club financially.
Jedinak is 33 years old and he captained Australia in the World Cup where he scored their only two goals from the spot kicks. He made 28 appearances in all competitions last season for Villa and Steve Bruce will have to look at other alternatives in the transfer market.
We look at three players the Clarets and Blues can go after to replace Jedinak.
Jack Rodwell
Rodwell recently parted ways with Sunderland with mutual consent and will be available on a free transfer. The former England international’s career has spiralled down in the past few years, however, he still has a good amount of experience of top flight and is still just 27. Steve Bruce could be the man to bring out the best in him once again, however, the Villans need to move in quick as he is also targeted by Premier League club, Watford.
Geoff Cameron
The American international has plenty of experience of English football with Stoke City. However, since the signing of Badou Ndiaye in the January transfer window, his playing time has reduced at the club. His versatility will also be a huge asset for any manager as he can fill in various roles in midfield and can even turn out as a centre back if needed. He has the experience of playing over 160 games in the Premier League so that will definitely come in handy for the Villans as they look to rebuild their side for the upcoming season.

Jay Spearing
The former Liverpool midfielder currently plies his trade for Blackpool in the third tier of English football and can be a decent bet for Steve Bruce. His perseverance and tenacity in the middle of the park is his biggest asset and he will be a good cheaper alternative to replace someone like Jedinak for a cash-strapped Villa.
