Tottenham Hotspur are yet to get off the mark in the transfer window this summer. They have not sold or signed a single player so far this window and do not have too much time to do the same. The summer transfer window this year shuts on the 9th of August, a day before the first kick off of the new Premier League season.
So we might see Mauricio Pochettino scout for potential targets extensively in these couple of weeks. Spurs have a particular and unique recruitment policy and have been linked with a number of bright prospects, who can help them to the first silverware under the new manager.
They are in no mood to throw cash around for the sake of it and are happy to wait for the right deals. However, their hand might be forced the more we approach deadline day so Pochettino might have to start making deals for top transfer targets. But who can they realistically sign this summer? Here are three such players Spurs should look to sign before deadline day this year:
Jack Grealish (Aston Villa):
The versatile playmaker was one of the most exciting players on show in the Championship last season and remains the top transfer target for Pochettino this summer. He can play in various roles and adds numbers to the attacking lineup at White Hart Lane next season. Aston Villa, though have new owners, need to sell players to comply with Financial Fair Play rules and if the right offer is made, they might find it hard to refuse and block Grealish’s move to the top flight.
Anthony Martial (Manchester United):
The French international is currently unsettled at Old Trafford and it is understood that he is ready to quit the club this summer. Chelsea and Spurs are already linked with a move for Martial and with just a season left on his current deal, he will not be too expensive, as deadline day approaches. First team opportunities and playing under a coach like Pochettino might be enough for Spurs to fend off interest from Chelsea for the 22-year old.

Harry Maguire (Leicester City):
A transfer target for Manchester United, Maguire was one of the most consistent players for England at the World Cup recently. Leicester City are already looking at replacements, having slapped a price tag of £50m on his head. United want Maguire or Toby Alderweireld and if they sign the Spurs man, Pochettino will certainly have the funds to replace him with an able name in Maguire.
