Liverpool have done most of their transfer dealings early in this summer transfer window and are now preparing for a mass clear-out in the coming weeks. The Merseyside giants are looking to part ways with some of their fringe players either on a loan deal or on a permanent transfer. According to recent reports, the Reds goalkeeper Loris Karius has revealed that he is considering his future options after making a string of errors in the past few matches for the club.
The German had a nightmare display in the 2018 Champions League final when his two errors cost Liverpool their sixth European Cup. Jurgen Klopp has wasted no time and addressed the goalkeeping situation by bringing in Alisson Becker from AS Roma on a world-record transfer fee this summer. It is believed that the German manager is now ready to let a lot of his sporadic options leave the club which could raise over £100m.
One of the players being tipped to depart the Anfield-based club is Karius after he was left fuming with the arrival of Alisson recently. The German goalie has expressed his shock at the recent development and was quoted to have said, “Of course it’s not perfect for me, but I cannot say much more about it either,”
“I do not know that, I cannot say what I’m doing right now, there’s still some time left [in the transfer window].”
Karius has recently taken aim at his critics and made a post on Instagram which stated, “To those who take joy in seeing other people fail or suffer, I feel for you. Whatever it is that’s happening in your life to hold this much anger and hate, I pray that it passes and good things come to you.”
It is clear that the German goalie’s future at Merseyside is uncertain with both Alisson and Simon Mignolet also available in Klopp’s squad. Hence, a move away from Anfield could be the best move for all parties.
Here are three potential destinations for Karius if he is allowed to leave in search of greener pastures this summer.
FSV Mainz 05
A return to the German top-flight might be a suitable option for Karius as he looks to reignite his career in the coming years. It will take some time for him to recover from his recent high-profile mistakes and a return to the Opel Arena could be the best option for him right now.
Aston Villa
The Villans are in need of a new goalkeeper following the departure of Sam Johnstone whose loan spell came to an end this summer. Hence, a temporary move for Karius might make sense for them considering that there are only a few days left until the transfer window slams shut. However, the German keeper’s wages could be a big stumbling block against such a move.

AS Roma
Liverpool have recently signed AS Roma’s first-choice keeper so the Roman side might choose to do the same if they are looking for a cheap way to address their goalkeeping vacancy. A change in scenery will do the German shot-stopper a world of good and Roma can also benefit from having a player like Karius in their ranks.
