Everton target Malcom is keen to move to Italy and play in Serie A. The 21-year-old has been actively pursued by the Toffees, however, they have been dealt a body blow by this new revelation. There were reports that the club was in advanced talks regarding the Brazilian winger and the Merseyside club were offering £30m for the winger.
His agent recently confirmed the news and said,” The player would like to come to Italy and Roma are very interested. In the next few hours, I will have a word with Monchi (Roma’s director of football).” Inter Milan are also said to be in the race to sign him but Roma are considered to be the frontrunners. They won’t have issues to pay up the amount as they recently got a huge fee for selling Alisson Becker to Liverpool.
The Merseyside club has handed over the club’s mantle to Marco Silva and he will be expected to play a more extravagant brand of football. The team is currently lacking that attacking and creative threat. Malcom would have been a great addition to the squad as he has bursting pace and is dangerous in front of goal. With him preferring a move to Italy, we look at three possible alternatives Silva can go after.
Wilfried Zaha
The Crystal Palace winger has been linked with a move to Goodison Park after impressive performances last season. Zaha came up leaps and bounds as he led his team’s frontline. The 25-year-old is close to realising his true potential. Maybe, now it is the time for him to move for bigger challenges and Everton will certainly suit him well. However, the Eagles are playing hardball as they are demanding £60m for their talismanic winger.
Cristian Pavon
The Argentine international played bits and pieces role in the World Cup for his national side. He has been one of the best players in his domestic league playing for Boca Juniors and is destined for greater things. He can be a decent bet for the Toffees but they will have to be patient with him as he has never played outside of Argentina before.
Erik Lamela
Tottenham Hotspur winger had to be content with sporadic appearances last campaign as Spurs have decent depth in the attacking third of the pitch. Though he has penned down a new deal at the north London club, with players like Lucas Moura and Heung Min Son already ahead in the pecking order of him, a move to Everton can help him to go on and showcase his full potential.
