According to the latest reports, Liverpool have rewarded Harry Wilson with a new contract and have tied him for a significant period of time. The 21-year-old broke out for the Reds with a brace in the 7-0 thrashing of Chester FC last Saturday. He is determined to break into the Liverpool senior team squad and is certainly making a favourable case for himself under Jurgen Klopp, which is sure to be boosted by this new long-term contract.
Wilson was a standout performer for Hull City last term, scoring 7 goals and furthering 4 assists in 13 Championship appearances to help the Tigers out of an ugly relegation battle. His antics for the now League One side has already made him one of the most wanted players in the Championship circuit and interest from the Scottish Premiership champions Celtic is also flowing in.
The 4-time Welsh international who also has 15 caps for his country’s U17, U19 and U21 sides, has really come into his own this past term and is slowly crawling his way into the hearts of the Liverpool faithful. He and his compatriot Ben Woodburn have been two of the most talked about youngsters in the Liverpool ranks in the recent times and are being touted by a number of experts across England to become the flagbearers for the Reds’ next generation.
It goes without saying that a player of Wilson’s calibre would have been an astute addition to the Celtic ranks and he could have walked straight away into the starting eleven under Brendan Rodgers. However, now that the 21-year-old has penned down a new contract at Anfield, taking into account his willingness to fight it out under Jurgen Klopp, maybe it is best for Rodgers to look into a few alternate options.
Josh Sims
He is struggling to find minutes under Mark Hughes in the Southampton first team and could use a spell away to Glasgow to gather more first-team experience. He can appear from either side of the pitch and has 2 more seasons left on his contract with the Saints.
Joel Campbell
The Arsenal winger, who has been unable to cut it for the Gunners first team in recent times, is still contracted to the side for another couple of seasons. With the new boss taking over, maybe the 26-year-old Costa Rica international could be called over for a loan spell at least.
