Liverpool‘s target Xherdan Shaqiri could be available for much lesser than expected and if latest reports are to be believed, then the Swiss international will be available for as less as £8m. The Reds have been in the reckoning to sign the 26-year old for quite some time now, however, any move is likely to go through after the World Cup as the player is currently busy playing for his country.
Stoke City went down to the Championship and as a result, Shaqiri has been linked with a move away from the club. Shaqiri himself admitted that he doesn’t have a future at the Bet 365 Stadium. He said,” Yes, of course. It is no secret that I will leave the club. I would love to stay in England, I think the league is perfect for me. It’s the best league with the best players, but I do not want to exclude anything.”
A host of Premier League clubs are in the rat race to sign him but as of now Liverpool seems to be dominating the news across media and are supposed to be the closest to sign the winger.
Liverpool can offer Shaqiri Champions League football and that will certainly be a tempting prospect for the Swiss international. The Reds had a fantastic run in the European competition last season and they came perilously close to winning it. However, their vulnerability was showcased to the world after the injury of Mohamed Salah in the European Cup final as they had to bring on Adam Lallana, who was coming back from an injury and hardly had any game time to get back to the groove.
Shaqiri will likely be used as a squad player at Anfield as Liverpool’s front trio are currently untouchable and it will be interesting to see whether he will opt for a move to a club where he won’t be a regular starter.

Liverpool will certainly like to have him and he has that moment of magic and spark in him which can change the game for his side. Even in the season where the Potters went down, he managed 8 goals and 7 assists and was the lone shining star in the attacking half of the pitch for his side. Liverpool will be aware that to win something big they need to add depth to their squad as they cannot always depend on their front trio and will need someone else as well to share the burden of goal scoring.
