If reports are to be believed then Nabil Fekir has made it clear to Lyon President that he still wants a move to Anfield. The attacking midfielder has held talks with Jean-Pierre Bernes, his advisor during the World Cup and has made his intentions clear. Fekir has also met twice with Jean Michel Aulas, Lyon Chief and has suggested the same to him.
However, it is believed that Liverpool will not return for the player if the same terms of the contract are offered for the Frenchman. The Reds want to re-negotiate some terms as they are a bit wary of Fekir’s injury history.
The Reds fans are divided in their opinion on Liverpool’s stance. Some are of the opinion that the player is fit and good enough to play for his country in the World Cup so there shouldn’t be any problems in signing him. Plus last season, he was regular for his side Lyon as he made 40 appearances in all competitions and managed a healthy tally of 23 goals and 8 assists.
The Reds were close to wrapping up the move before the World Cup, however, it collapsed at the last moment in spectacular circumstances. Reports have been coming in for a while that the Merseyside club has not given up on the player and are expected to go for him once the player comes back from his national duty.
Lyon’s chief Aulas often plays a hardball when it comes to negotiation. We have seen in the past how he has dragged transfer of certain players. Chelsea were kept waiting for three months to sign Michael Essien and in the meantime, he was able to extract double the amount for him. He also managed to negotiate a record fee for Karim Benzema and dragged Hugo Lloris’ transfer until the last few minutes of the deadline day in 2012.
Liverpool have made it clear that they are not taking the player on old terms so it will be interesting to see who gives in first. We can expect a tussle between all the three parties as both Lyon and Liverpool will stand firm on their grounds and Fekir meanwhile will be pushing for a move away from the French outfit.

The saga will soon resume after the World Cup finals and the Reds will be desperate to bring in an attacking midfielder as they look to replace Philippe Coutinho, who was sold to Barcelona in the January transfer window.
