Bayern Munich are lining up a move for Manchester United speedster Anthony Martial this summer. According to recent reports, the German giants are looking to secure the services of the Frenchman during this summer transfer period. It is understood that the Bavarian outfit has held meetings with the player’s representatives behind closed doors to discuss a potential move in this post-season.
Some sources are now claiming that Bayern are on the lookout to replace their Dutch winger Arjen Robben and Martial fits the bill perfectly. However, they are not the only ones looking to recruit the Frenchman with Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus all keeping tabs on his situation at Old Trafford. It has also been suggested that the French forward is eager to make a move away from Manchester in search of regular first-team opportunities.
Bayern are willing to provide him with an escape route out of Old Trafford. Martial had featured in 45 matches for United last term, scoring 11 goals while creating 9 assists across all competitions. He is exactly the kind of player who can be a future star in European football if given the opportunity to showcase his talents on a regular basis.
In a recent interview, the Frenchman’s agent Philippe Lamboley was quoted to have said, “After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.
“There are lots of factors, and right now it’s too early to talk about them.
“Manchester United want Anthony to extend his deal and do not want him to leave but we have not reached an agreement for several months.”
The Red Devils had managed to finish as the runners-up in the English top tier but it was a nevertheless an underwhelming season for them without any major silverware which will be a cause for concern for their supporters. Hence, the Special One should look to bring in some much-needed reinforcements in this summer window if his team are to challenge for top honours in the upcoming campaign.
Retaining some of their top talents like Martial could help the Red Devils compete with the likes of Manchester City and mount a realistic title challenge in the Premier League. However, keeping a reportedly unhappy player could harm the club’s chances of having a successful campaign next term.
