According to latest reports, Manuel Pellegrini is keen on bringing in Manchester City wonder kid Brahim Diaz at West Ham United on a season-long loan. The midfielder made just 5 appearances in the Premier League last season and he had to spend most of his time with the reserve squad.
The Chilean manager was the one who got Diaz from Malaga to Manchester when he was just 14. Since then, he has gone on to become a star at the youth level but is still having to wait for regular game time at the Etihad. It is believed that even Pep Guardiola rates the 18-year-old Spaniard highly but such is the talent that the Citizens have, he has found it tough to accommodate the attacking midfielder in the playing eleven.
Pellegrini will be aware that the youngster will be in desperate need of game time and the Hammers are willing to bring him on a season-long loan. Guardiola will surely not want to sell him on a permanent basis as he is being touted as a future superstar and at 18, he can still go on to develop his game further.
One of the reasons why Pellegrini is looking to make a move for the Spaniard is due to the injury of Manuel Lanzini who got injured in Argentina’s training session and damaged his cruciate knee ligament which will keep him out till nine months. The Argentine international has been injury prone and it is clear now that the manager wouldn’t be able to depend on him for the upcoming season.
If one looks at the current Manchester City squad it is clear that Diaz is not going to stand much of a chance of playing first-team football. City are also looking to bring in Riyad Mahrez, a proven Premier League player and that might mean lesser game time for other attacking players.

Guardiola shouldn’t have any hesitation in sending the player on loan and Diaz can certainly improve his game further under his former manager Pellegrini. The Chilean has been with him since his Malaga days and he might be able to extract every ounce of his talent out of him. It will also bolster the Hammers squad as they are going to be short on attacking option after an injury to Manuel Lanzini. Michail Antonio has also been injury prone, so one can expect the 18-year-old will get a good amount of game time at the Olympic stadium which in turn will help him in his overall development.
